TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) — Friday, August 21st: Below are the top stories WTXL ABC 27 is following around the Big Bend, South Georgia, nationally, and your forecast.
1) Dog found shot in Panacea makes miraculous recovery. Willow was brought in by Wakulla County Animal Control on July 30, and Shepherd Spring Animal Hospital said she had two gunshot wounds through her head and arm.
2) Gretna receives $1.25M in state funding. The funding, awarded under Governor Ron DeSantis, will go toward wastewater improvements and road repairs and paving across the city.
3) Donalds promises insurance cuts, defends data centers as race pivots to November. In a recent one-on-one interview, Donalds outlined his positions on four issues likely to follow him into November.
4) Bainbridge families get free financial and homebuying education. The Housing Stability Academy, hosted by the City of Bainbridge and nonprofit I See My Baby, offers classes on credit, loans, and home maintenance.
5) Weekend Forecast: Stronger storms can form past 3:00 p.m. with a chance of severe weather until around 8:00 p.m. We are in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) for severe weather through our South Georgia counties.
