LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — This week's Leon County School Board meeting was much more calm than last week's.

While parents packed the last meeting to talk about the bus issue, there was zero bus backlash at Tuesday's meeting.

The first day of the school year started off bumpy when a change to bus routes caused students to have to make long walks to their bus stop, be picked up and dropped off late, or not at all.

It prompted the Superintendent to remove the bus director from his position, end EduLog's bus routes, and go back to last year's routes. It was a rough start to the new school year, but now the superintendent says he's proud of the strides his team helped him make.

"We are so blessed and I'm so blessed and fortunate to have such amazing staff members," said Rocky Hanna, the LCS Superintendent. "I didn't even have to say a word and they were called into action just by the response of what they saw and were witnessing in the media and otherwise. I can't thank you all enough for standing by my side during this time. I'm proud and honored to be a part of this. I'm proud and honored to work alongside you all."

The Superintendent says that the help from bus workers, school staff, and the school board is the reason the issue was resolved so quickly.

Hanna says he's also proud of how morale is for the employees now.
