LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — If it's not broke, don't try to fix it. A hard lesson learned for the Leon County School district after a failed bus route change.

After days of bus backlash, the district's updated routes have been released.

The district says starting Monday, students should go back to their bus stops from last year.

If you don't know which one that is, Leon County Schools made a website just for that. The site went online around 3:00 p.m. Friday.

More than 100 bus drivers will be picking up the same routes they did in 2018 so kids will see some familiar faces, too. Leon County schools says it understands how difficult of a week it has been.

Nearly 1,300 students were impacted by this week's failed route changes. The school system hopes that going back to those original routes will get this school year back on track.

"It's hard on parents, it's hardest on the kids. And we understand that, but we know the bus system worked last year and the year before that. It should work just the same this Monday," said LCS spokesperson Chris Petley.

The only kids that don't have the option of getting bussed are those with school choice.

Parents still have to figure out their transportation themselves.

Kids with special needs, whose parents filled out the proper paperwork, are also eligible for curbside and stop pickups.

Leon County Schools has posted updated school bus stops on their website following wide-spread transportation issues plaguing the county on the first week of school.

The 2019-2020 bus stops are the same locations as last year's (2018-19) school bus stops. Those updated bus stops will go into effect Monday, August 19.

Buses will be identified by route number, which will be displayed on the right side of every bus, directly next to the door. The route will be the same in the morning as in the afternoon.
