TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — We're in a pattern that will support relatively easy formation of scattered showers, heavy rain, and thunderstorm, supported by a nearby stalled front, local wind flows, and ample moisture. Downpours occurring late today and this evening contain locally gusty winds that can trigger severe thunderstorm warnings and cause isolated cases of power outages or spotty damage. Overall coverage will remain in a scattered fashion, diminishing as we go later into the night.
As usual, with times of rain, areas affected will be cooler, but broadly speaking, temps will fall through the 80s through midnight, into the 70s for the early morning. Lows will drop into the low to mid 70s with areas of clearer sky and few clouds.
A sun-and-cloud mix is expected by midday Tuesday with readings warming to the low to mid 90s by afternoon for highs, prior to the re-development of scattered showers, rain, and storms. Like today, there can be some stronger outflowing wind gusts produced by bouts of heavy rain in a few neighborhoods.
With the absence of upper high pressure, there will be a repeating cycle of showers and storms for several afternoons this week. High temps will also be held in check, close to the low to mid 90s. Feels-like values will still top 100°, but it will be harder to reach extreme levels that would warrant heat-related advisories or warnings.
