Taylor County officials opens emergency shelter after flooding

STEINHATCHEE, FL — Taylor County officials opened an emergency shelter after high waters flood streets in Steinhatchee.

Taylor County Emergency Management Services is now monitoring the rain near the Steinhatchee River. The highest total so far has been in the Steinhatchee area where 28.65 inches has fallen in a three day period between Thursday and Saturday.

Officials set up a shelter at Steinhatchee School gym Saturday night for those who need to leave their homes. Sheriff Wayne Padgett also enacted a curfew until 10pm Saturday night.
