TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A 28-year-old man has been charged with homicide in connection to a deadly shooting at Sunrise Apartments on Texas Street back in May.

The Tallahassee Police Department announced Friday that Artez Adams, 28, was arrested for homicide and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon on Tuesday.

The shooting happened on May 29 around 11:50 p.m. at the Sunrise Apartments located at 2525 Texas Street.

When they arrived, officers found one victim, who has not been identified, with a gunshot wound.

TPD and emergency responders immediately provided medical attention to the victim, who was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim later died at the hospital.

Police said an investigation revealed the shooting was a result of an altercation between Adams and the victim.

On Tuesday, Adams was taken into custody with assistance from the United States Marshals’ Task Force. During the arrest, they found more evidence, leading them to charge him with the fatal shooting.

As of Friday, Adams is being held without bond in the Leon County Detention Facility.

This was the third shooting to happen in Tallahassee that same day.

The first happened in the 2300 block of Keith Street, where two people were hurt. The second happened in the 2600 block of Mission Road, where a man was found dead after suffering an apparent gunshot wound.
