TPD: Men shot up home on Gardenview Drive, found with stolen guns

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Two 19-year-olds have been arrested after Tallahassee Police say they shot up a home on Gardenview Way over the weekend.

Chase Blommel and Austin Ferriby have been arrested for the shooting that happened on Sunday, Dec. 8, around 11:24 p.m. in the 3400 block of Gardenview Way.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit were able to link the shooting to a car burglary at the Vape Shop on Mahan Drive and a home burglary in the 3400 block of Whitney Drive East.

During the investigation, officers learned about a car burglary that happened at the Vape Shop on early Sunday.

Investigators say Blommel broke into a vehicle that was parked there. The owner of the vehicle, who lived on Gardenview Way, then confronted Blommel about the car burglary over the phone.

Not long after the call, police say Blommel and Ferriby drove past the home on Gardenview Way and fired gunshots at the occupied home.

But, the intended target was not at home at the time of the shooting. No one was injured in the shooting.

Investigators then learned about of a home burglary that happened in the 3400 block of Whitney Drive East on Tuesday.

During the burglary, TPD says an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun were stolen. Through further investigation, police linked Ferriby to the burglary.

Ferriby and Blommel were taken into custody by TPD’s Career Criminal Unit and transported to TPD for questioning. When they searched the Ferriby’s and Blommel’s homes, they found the stolen guns.

Blommel told police he bought a gun from Ferriby, which he knew Ferriby stole from the home on Whitney Drive East.

Based on the evidence, both were arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling. Additionally, the pair were charged for the other crimes as well.


Police are investigating after they say shots were fired at a home on Gardenview Way over the weekend.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department, the shooting occurred on Sunday night at approximately 11:24 p.m. in the 3400 block of Gardenview Way.

Officers responded to the scene after residents reported gunshots were heard in the area.

Police say they discovered several bullets were fired at a home that was occupied by several people. Thankfully no one was injured during the incident.

Officers then began an on-scene investigation which included processing the scene for any evidence, speaking with any witnesses and locating any video surveillance capturing the incident.

At this time, investigators are working to develop a suspect description including any vehicles.

TPD was already investigating two other shootings that occurred on Sunday.

One happened early Sunday morning in a breezeway inside Urban Enclave Apartments on Stearns Street. That shooting sent a woman to the hospital in serious condition.

The other Sunday shooting occurred in the area of Ridge Roadand sent one person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
