TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A GoFundMe has been started for a Woodville volunteer firefighter and cancer survivor who lost his home to a sinkhole that opened up in a Leon County neighborhood.

The fundraiser was started to benefit Richard Salim, a volunteer firefighter with the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department and cancer survivor. Salim also has two small children.

Salim came home from work on Jan. 28 to find that a massive sinkhole had opened up between he and his neighbor's yard.

Since then, the sinkhole has been filled and both Salim and his neighbor's trailers have been condemned as a total loss.

Now, the Bradfordville Fire Department, along with close friends, are working to raise $20,000 to help him find a new home for his family.
