TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- 1 week after a Tallahassee man is found dead, residents and city officials join forces to take their neighborhoods back.

Called "Neighbors on the Block," the "Operation Safe Neighborhood" campaign was implemented by Mayor Andrew Gillum, after violence rocked the capital city, leaving 3 men dead.

City officials, law enforcement, and community members stood on the street corner to promote an end to gun violence.

Us as a community being on these streets being in contact and communication with the folks that live here in this neighborhood letting them know that they aren't fighting this battle by themselves. That we are here as a community to take our streets back. They don't belong to criminals and lawbreakers. They're our streets," said Mayor Gillum.

"Neighbors on the Block" will take place every Saturday at various street locations in Tallahassee.
