Tropical Storm Colin to Make Landfall Later Today

TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Tropical Storm Colin continues to move northward in the Gulf of Mexico tracking its way towards the Big Bend shoreline. Colin will make landfall some time between 10 pm and 2 am tonight, but its effects will be felt throughout the day.

FLOODING

On and off showers and storms are likely ahead of this ragged storm system. Some of the downpours could be heavy, and most of the region is under a flood watch through tonight. 2-6" of new rainfall is likely through early tomorrow, with highest totals expected in the Suwannee Valley.

SEVERE STORM

Isolated severe storms may be embedded in Colin's feeder bands. There is the possibility of a few waterspouts or even tornadoes later this afternoon and evening.

STORM SURGE

The Big Bend coast will likely see some storm surge during the mid-afternoon around high tides. The Forgotten Coast from Apalachicola to St. Marks can expect 1-2 ft surges while the Jefferson county shoreline to Steinhatchee can expect 2-4 ft surges.

Offshore winds will be tropical storm strength, ranging anywhere from 40-50 mph. Inland, there will likely not be a great wind threat with this system.
