TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Only two areas of interest remain in the tropics...the remnants of Beryl, and Tropical Storm Chris.
The remnants of Beryl are sitting about 60 miles northeast of Martinique with winds sustained at 45 mph. Beryl has started moving faster, about 26 mph in the west northwest direction.
In the next 12 to 24 hours, this storm is expected to move over the Leeward Islands, and dissipate just south of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Those near the storm may see gusty winds and rain.
Tropical Storm Chris is about 300 miles south of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina with sustained winds of 50 mph. This storm is still stationary, and it's not expected to move much until Tuesday. This may allow for Chris to strengthen into a weak hurricane.
Although further strengthening is possible for this storm, those on the east coast are not expected to feel effects from it. The forecast models continue to keep Tropical Storm Chris well away from the coast line.
