MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Hurricane Matthew is continuing to strengthen as it approaches the east coast of Florida and it may provide for more breezy conditions along our local area, though impacts will likely not be damaging in the viewing area.
Thursday afternoon is expected to be virtually a reapeat of Wednesday, with the exception of more winds and more clouds as winds move more from the east today. Expect highs to reach the mid 80s, and if the sun can provide enough of an influence, upper 80s are entirely possible. Winds will be persistenly breezy for the next several days with northeast winds 10-15 mph. Rain chances are minimal, at less than 20% as the moisture stays wrapped around the hurricane over the Bahamas. Lows into Friday, are expected to be near 70 degrees.
Friday will likely be mostly cloudy with breezy conditions, as well. The further east you are, the higher chance you have at seeing some shower activity from the outskirts of Matthew. Impacts from winds are expected to be minimal, but Columbia County is under a Tropical Storm Warning. This means that Columbia county is at a higher risk to see tropical storm force winds (40+ mph).
Saturday into Sunday, the breezy conditions may continue, but weather will likely stay quiet, and sunny.
