Take advantage of this beautiful weather today because the end of your weekend looks messy! Some debris clouds from the Gulf of Mexico low pressure system that is forming are being thrown our way giving us mild overnight temperatures only falling into the low to mid 50s around the area. As that low drapes over us, it will bring plenty of rainfall up to two inches widespread and local hot spots up to five inches can be expected as well! All the action starts after breakfast tomorrow morning. Rain will initially start off shore in the open waters, come to the Emerald Coast, and continue to spread all over the Big Bend and then to South Georgia. There is also the isolated threat of severe weather in the Big Bend including high wind gusts, large hail, and an isolated tornado. Stay tuned to channel 27.1 and 27.3 for further details and on our website wtxl.tv and our social media pages (Twitter/Facebook) @abc27stormteam. Because of all the rain and clouds, our temperatures stay a little on the cool side only getting into the low 70s for afternoon highs, though the Eastern portions of the area will approach 80 degrees because of their late start on the rain. That all clears out by Monday morning, but we still could see an isolated shower or two. When you wake up to start your work week, you'll be seeing lows in the mid 60s and highs rebounding to the low 80s in the afternoon. This is the set up to a very summer-like weather pattern with afternoon highs approaching the mid 80s Tuesday through Thursday and morning lows only in the mid and upper 60s. However, just like summertime, you can expect an isolated afternoon storm or two around the area. By Friday, another frontal system approaches bringing the threat of rain in the afternoon through early Saturday. Friday afternoon highs will be near 80 degrees and on Saturday we drop to the mid 70s as the cold front passes.
