MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...
Strong thunderstorms are moving through the region late today, carrying highly disruptive weather elements including strong wind gusts, heavy rain, flash flooding, and the chance for damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. The frontal system and low-pressure center creating the rough weather are gradually moving east, while the individual areas of thunderstorms are moving swiftly toward the northeast, Many locations can expect to receive over an inch of rain, with some areas already getting upwards of four inches and triggering localized flooding. A Tornado Watch remains in effect for most areas, with our eastern counties near and along I-75 possibly experiencing a continuation of the watch into the nighttime hours. Pockets of heavy rain are possible along the Suwannee River valley Tuesday morning, with lighter, scattered (non-severe) showers elsewhere in the afternoon. Lows tonight will be in the 60s, and highs will reach the 70s with breezy and cloudy conditions. Sunshine will increase by Wednesday and beyond.
