MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...
The current warm trend and increasing moisture may set a feel of spring on the region, but these elements will also help fuel the next local strong and severe thunderstorm threat. Tonight will remain quiet and uneventful, with areas of clouds and fog amid mild overnight lows in the mid 50s to low 60s. A little more wind overnight should lower the chance for dense fog. That same wind, mainly from the south, will increase by late tomorrow as a strong low moves into the central Gulf region through tomorrow afternoon, creating a higher-than-usual risk for severe weather in the lower Mississippi Valley. We'll have a further increase in clouds by afternoon with forecast highs well in the 70s. Storms that form from the Gulf Coast system will push to the east through late tomorrow evening and early Wednesday morning, when the chances for damaging storm wind gusts and isolated tornadoes will reach their peak locally. Afterwards, we'll have a solid reminder that winter is not over, with a string of sunny, colder days into the weekend.
