MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Hawaii is bracing for impacts from Hurricane Lane, which is expected to turn north later Wednesday, bringing harsh weather closer and closer to the islands.

As of 5:00am ET, Hurricane Lane was packing maximum sustained winds of 160 mph. This makes it a Category 5 hurricane. A trough of low pressure to the west of Lane will force the storm to turn north, bringing the center of the hurricane very close to the islands, which has prompted Hurricane Watches and Warnings for several islands in the state.
