While we’ve lost a huge amount of the direct tropical moisture connection, there’s still enough lingering in place with ample sunshine and heating to trigger the daily cycle of showers and thunderstorms. Most will form near the Big Bend coast and move inland, carrying pockets of heavy rain and frequent lightning at times. A few briefly strong storms are possible, containing gusty winds. Rain action will wind down after midnight, but likely to regenerate Tuesday afternoon as winds become more southeasterly. Lows tonight will fall to around average in the low to mid 70s, and tomorrow’s highs will return to the lower 90s. Shower and storm chances remain in the outlook all week, with perhaps more-numerous activity returning by the end of the week.
