Tropical Storm Chantal is churning out in the Atlantic and is 390 miles away from Barbados. Right now it has maximum sustained winds at 45 mph and is moving WNW at 28 mph.
The system could endure modest strengthening over the next 48 hours but will weaken it about 3 days as it heads over the mountainous terrain of Hispaniola and eastern Cuba.
On Saturday it will somewhere between south Florida and the Bahamas but will most likely not be of tropical storm strength.
