(WTXL) — As you look to make your own hurricane plans, there is one question in particular that every family needs to know the answer to.
One of the most important questions you can ask yourself as you get into this hurricane season is: Do I live in evacuation zone?
In order to keep you your family and first responders safe, you need to know the answer to this question.
We have five counties across the Big Bend with designated evacuate and zones: Franklin Wakulla, Leon, Jefferson and Taylor counties.
The zones are evacuated by letter and, if you live in a zone that's been ordered to evacuate, you need to get out. Zones are designated by their letter based on vulnerability so if your zone is ordered to evacuate, you need to know where to go.
To find your county's evacuation map, you can visit the Hurricane Center on WTXL.tv. All you have to do is go to the website to know your zone and scroll down to the counties with designated evacuation zone list.
Once you click on it, It'll pull up a map and it will show you the designated zones from the coast to areas further inland to figure out what zone you are in, so you can have a plan for you and your family to stay safe.
