TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) — We are starting off in the upper to low 70s this morning. By the afternoon we'll climb into the mid 90s with the heat index still in the 100s. Luckily, there is not a widespread Heat Advisory, but we do still have one for Wakulla, Gadsden, and Franklin counties from 12 P.M. until 7 P.M. The heat index can reach anywhere from 108°-111° in those areas. Our temperatures will drop to average starting tomorrow.

Thunderstorms will start to pop up around 1 P.M. this afternoon and can become severe around 5 P.M. We are in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather, but this is not out of the ordinary for this time of year. The main threats will be strong wind gusts at 60 MPH, with frequent lightning. Tornadoes are still unlikely. Storms will become more isolated after sunset, and become sparse through the night.
