As of 5pm EDT Sunday, August 20, 2023, Tropical Storm Franklin has formed in the Caribbean Sea.
Franklin is expected to strengthen into a strong tropical storm before making landfall on the island of Hispaniola on Tuesday.
Franklin will emerge north of the island and turn out to sea before strengthening into a Category 1 hurricane on Thursday.
Franklin is currently no threat to the mainland United States.
