FHP: One dead, one critically injured following incident in Wakulla County

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) — UPDATE 12/20/2022: The Florida Highway Patrol Tuesday released a report on the incident that occurred Monday.

Monday at 4:13 p.m., a sedan driven by an 87-year-old woman of Crawfordville was traveling north on County Road 365 (Spring Creek Highway) approaching the intersection with U.S. 98.

A pickup truck was traveling west on U.S. 98 approaching the intersection of Spring Creek Highway.

The sedan came to a stop at the stop sign at the intersection and was facing north.

The Sedan then entered the intersection, but failed to yield to the pickup truck. The truck was unable to avoid the collision with the sedan as the truck made impact to the passenger side of the sedan.

According to the report, the sedan then rotated and went off the roadway onto the west corner of the intersection then struck a concrete utility pole.

The truck came to a stop on the north shoulder west of the intersection facing northwest.

The report notes the driver of the sedan died, while a female passenger in the sedan sustained critical injuries.

The driver of the truck along with a passenger in the truck reportedly did not sustain injuries.

INITIAL REPORT

An accident in Wakulla County has led to a roadblock.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s Live Traffic Crash and Road Condition Report website at U.S. 98 and Spring Creek Highway, FHP is working a vehicle crash with injuries.

FHP responded to the scene around 4:18 p.m. Monday.

The roadway is blocked and FHP said for those traveling in the area to use caution.
