PORTLAND, OR (KPTV/CNN) - A woman was seriously injured after police say she was shot in the neck with an arrow.
Authorities said it was not a random attack.
"I come here twice a day," said park regular Ann Singer.
Most people who come to the park say the most activity you'll see are dogs at play.
Portland police said they found a 24-year-old woman with an arrow sticking out of her neck on Monday morning.
"It's kind of a crazy, crazy thing to happen," said another regular, John Shmilenko.
The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to survive.
Investigators said the woman was visiting the park with friends or relatives when she was shot.
"I don't think people go around shooting people with arrows usually, that was a weird thing," said Singer.
Police said the suspect and victim know each other, and that this was not a random attack.
"Yeah, but I think this is a strange one-time thing," Singer said. "It doesn't bring a lot of fear in me, so I will keep coming."
Police have not said what happened in the moments leading up to the incident.
They also haven't released any information about the suspect.
