ATLANTA (WSB/CNN) - A 30-year-old man died of injuries Saturday after a shooting that police believe involved an Uber Eats driver.
Police said Ryan Thornton ordered food through Uber Eats to be delivered to his Buckhead condominium. By 11:30 p.m. ET, he had received his order and walked away from the delivery car, police said.
The service allows users to order takeout via the app on their phone.
Police said words may have been exchanged, and that's when shots were fired. The driver took off in a white Volkswagen.
Thornton died at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Robert Bivines, 36, turned himself in around 3 p.m. Monday and will be taken to the Fulton County jail, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Uber has a no weapons policy for its drivers.
