(BLUE SPRINGS, MO) - 11-year-old Evan Epperson has got it figured out.

"He's consistent, man. He doesn't miss a day," said Brett Lyon, Brittany Middle School Principal.

Evan knows how to put a smile on a face.

"It's just something that is him and his personality," said Lyon.

The Blue Springs sixth grader has become known for doing this… giving hallway high-fives for students on their way to lunch.

Evan likes to give high-fives.

"He does -- to everybody," said Eric Epperson, Evan’s dad.

It's a simple positive gesture that keeps his classmates smiling.

"It was heartwarming. I mean, I really enjoyed seeing how it made all the kids feel," Epperson said.

"Evan did this all on his own," said Lyon.

It's become somewhat of a hallway tradition here at Brittany Hill. In fact, Evan has got certain high-fives for certain students.

"Sometimes it's going up for doubles and sometimes it's down low. It definitely is an individualized thing," Lyon said.

Since the beginning of the school year, on this corner outside his classroom every day, 285 seventh-graders are all getting high-fives from a face you just can’t miss.

"He has a smile that just lights up everybody around him," said Lyon.
