The Greene County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman Monday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post from the Greene County Sheriff's Office, a woman was abducted and then taken into the county and sexually assaulted in the Scatter Creek area.

Greene County Sheriff David Carter tells Region 8 News that the woman ran inside her home to get a grocery list, when she returned to her car, the suspect was lying in the victim's back seat of her SUV and abducted her.

Sheriff Carter says the suspect put something on the back of her neck and demanded her to drive and to listen to him or he was going to kill her.

Carter says that’s when the man led victim to Scatter Creek and sexually assaulted her.

The woman told investigators, that the man left her in the woods after hearing gunshots at the nearby gun range in the area.

Sheriff Carter says after the suspect took off running, the disoriented woman saw the sun reflect off her SUV, and ran to it and took off in her car to get away and get help.

Deputies searched the area for the suspect into the night, but never found him. The search was resumed Tuesday morning.

The posts say the victim was not able to give any details about what the suspect looked like.

Investigators say evidence was gathered and sent off to the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

Deputies are asking everyone to take special cautions, keep your vehicles locked and pay extra special attention to your surroundings when entering your vehicle at home or at places of business at this time.
