(RNN) – A power outage has left Reagan National Airport in Washington completely in the dark.
The airport tweeted it was “aware of an airport wide power outage” at 9:50 p.m. ET and said it was investigating.
Another tweet at 10:35 p.m. said backup generators were keeping “several areas of the terminal” lighted. Minutes later, it said flights were still operating.
Social media posts from inside the airport showed it shrouded in darkness, with little if any interior lighting functioning.
A spokesperson told WRC-TV in DC that the outage was related to an issue with the airport’s energy provider, Dominion Energy.
