A woman is facing a felony charge for attacking a Biloxi police officer after she was fired from her job.
Authorities said officers were called to a Howard Avenue business on Saturday for a report of disturbing the peace. The business told officers that Keisha Roxanne Moran, 35, had been fired and was making a scene.
Police said when officers arrived, they tried to calm Moran down but she became more agitated. When one of the officers tried to arrest Moran, she reportedly assaulted him, kneeing him in the groin and biting him. Investigator Matthew DeDual said Moran nearly broke the officer's skin when she bit him, leaving a distinct mark on him.
Eventually, officers were able to gain control of the situation and handcuff Moran. Both she and the officer were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries. While at the hospital, DeDual says Moran continued to be aggressive towards officers.
Moran is charged with felony simple assault on a police officer. A $25,000 bond was set for her and she was taken to Harrison County Jail.
Police did not release the name of the business where Moran was employed.
