(NPS.gov/CNN) - The National Park System Advisory Board is smaller this week.
Nine members of the organization handed in their notice on Tuesday.
According to a letter obtained by CNN, the board wasn't able to meet with Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke over the past year.
The board consists of 12 members and usually meets with the head of the Department of the Interior biannually.
The department did not respond to comment.
Eight of the nine members had terms set to expire in May.
