LOS ANGELES (KTLA/CNN) - A police SUV struck a group of pedestrians in Los Angeles on Thursday night, killing two children.
Capt. Alfonso Lopez said Los Angeles Sheriff's Department was responding to a call of a gunshot victim and while en route was involved in a traffic accident.
Lopez said it was a "three-party collision" and as part of the traffic incident, five pedestrians were impacted.
One pedestrian died on the scene and the other four were transported to the hospital where another later died.
The two deputies involved were also transported to the hospital in stable condition, and were expected to be released soon.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
