TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Last week was a little bit of a disappointment for local high school football teams, as hurricane Hermine forced cancellations across North Florida and South Georgia.

With football slated for this week with no problems, many teams hit the field for the first time in a week on Wednesday. For FAMU DRS and Florida High, youth is the name of the game. The two young teams will face off Friday in a "lab school rivalry" with both looking to get better.

The Seminoles of Florida High may be in a little better shape than DRS. They played a lot of young talent last season thanks to injuries. The Baby Rattlers are currently playing a lot of ninth graders, and even some eighth graders as they enter their second match-up of the season.

"They have the depth and we just have to execute and play fundamental football," said FAMU DRS head coach Rontarius Robinson. "We can't make mistakes because whenever you're playing a team like that, they will hurt you if you're not paying attention to the little small details. You can't make any blown assignments. You have to play fundamental football from start to finish."

"I've got several coaches and myself that have been a part of this rivalry, whether we've won or lost and it's a big rivalry," said Florida High's Jarrod Hickman. "It's a great early season test for us. We had a good rhythem going. Defensively, we were playing great. Offensively, I think we need to improve and take the next step. Not turning the ball over and then score. We have to score points inside the red zone and capitalize on the turnovers our defense has caused."

Friday's rivalry kicks off at 7:30 at Florida High.
