TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - This weekend, some on the Southeast's best junior divers came to Tallahassee to compete in USA Diving's Regional Championships. The goal? Place high enough to move on, and inch one step closer to Nationals. Tomahawk Diving, the "home team" hosting this weekend's Championships, the first qualifier for Nationals in August.
Close to 250 athletes from five different states flipped into the water this weekend, from the little guys and gals at six years old to 18, and to be able to host a big event like this? An honor for Tomahawk Diving.
"It's great for Tallahassee, it's great for Tomahawk Diving, it's great for all of our divers because they get home court advantage.," said Chelsea Ale, who is the head coach for Tomahawk Diving and this weekend's meet director. "They get used to training here and seeing this entire facility so it makes them do better. It's been great for the program because it helps us raise money. It's been awesome."
