TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The dog days of summer are almost here, but for a couple more weeks we can talk about football again. High school teams are back at work in both south Georgia and north Florida and everyone is looking to better themselves from last season.
That couldn't be more true for the Leon Lions, who were winless a season ago. Head coach Garrett Jahn noting the getting back on the field is exactly what this team needed to shake that bad taste from their mouths.
Coach says this group is still pretty young, but a lot more experienced than a season ago. The Lions lost their quarterback and top running back, but just about everyone else is back on offense.
Coach added as long as their team sticks together, they'll be just fine.
"The other stuff we have plenty of time to fix. The X and O's, the responsibility, and things like that," he said. "It's more of an effort stand-point, and an attitude stand-point, and just the way they approach practice each day. If I see all those things happening, the other stuff tends to be a little easier."
Leon will face off with FAMU DRS and Gadsden County in a three team jamboree on Thursday, May 17th at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee.
