GREENSBORO, N.C. (WTXL) - Carson Pickett's first goal of the season propelled No. 2 Florida State to a 1-0 victory over No. 4 Virginia in the 2014 ACC Women's Soccer Championship, played at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

"This is why you want to go out and play," Florida State head coach Mark Krikorian said. "You want to go out and play against the top competition in the country. Virginia is a fabulous team, and they are going to do a great job in the NCAA Tournament.

"We know that it isn't easy to win this championship. All of the teams that play in this tournament are top 10 teams in the country."

The Noles earned the league title for the second year in a row, and third time in the past four years. FSU is the first repeat ACC champ since North Carolina won five in a row from 2005-09.

"Winning our third title in four years has been great," said senior Dagny Brynjarsdottir. "The team spirit has been great, and we defended really well as a team. This is my last year here, and it is great to go out as an ACC Champion. Now, we will look ahead to the NCAAs."

Brynjarsdottir was named ACC Tournament MVP, and she was joined on the ACC All-Tournament team by fellow Seminoles Megan Campbell, Carson Pickett, Jamia Fields, and Cheyna Williams.

By winning the ACC Championship, Florida State earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, where they will be named one of four No. 1 seeds. The NCAA Selection Show is scheduled for Monday, November 10 at 4:30 p.m., and will be broadcast at www.ncaa.com.
