TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Rickards Raiders won their first District Championship in 15 seasons this year, and they look to carry that momentum in that they hope is a long postseason.
Rickards opened up the Class 5A State Playoffs against Panama City Bay High Thursday night in Quarterfinal action, and despite a slow start, the Raiders got rolling late, winning 42-7. Quarterback DJ Phillips was 17 of 21 on the night, throwing for 293 yards and two scores, receiver Javon Wooten had six catches, one for a touchdown.
For the second straight year, the St. John Paul II Panthers played for the North Florida Football Conference title. On Thursday, they traveled to undefeated Oak Hall in Gainesville, but fell short, falling 41-13.
