Tallahassee (WTXL) - North Florida Christian ace Cole Sands, a Florida State signee, hoped to hear his name called early in the Major League Baseball Draft. He had to wait until the third and final day, as he was taken 649th overall in the 22nd round by the Houston Astros.

WTXL spoke with NFC baseball coach Mike Posey on Thursday, who said Sands turned down close to a dozen teams on day two. Posey added Sands met with Seminole staff on Wednesday to discuss his options. Sands confirmed to WTXL that his "plan right now is to attend Florida State so he can become a better player in the next three to four years."
