Tallahassee, Fla (WTXL) -- The FSU Softball team is gearing up to take on Georgia in the opening game of the Women's College World Series Thursday at noon. FSU is on a ten game winning streak, but there's a chance several players could still be nervous in Oklahoma City.
"We have to do what we have been doing this whole time," FSU softball coach Lonni Alameda said. "That's the biggest thing. Again, I go back to trusting the process and trusting what got you here. I think that's one lesson we learn when we got there in 2014 and really it is just playing softball."
FSU has not lost a game since May 7th against Louisville. That includes winning their third straight ACC softball title.
"Our defense is pretty good," third basemen Jessica Warren said. "Our pitching is pretty good. Our offense is really good. I think the big thing is we just stay in the game. The coaches tell us to stay in the game a lot. We don't get down on ourselves and I think we produce a lot of the runs in that sixth or seventh inning."
Georgia is coming off a dramatic super regional win over Florida. The other teams on the Noles side of the bracket are UCLA and Auburn. Alameda tells her players to take one pitch at a time so she is concerned about Georgia first and foremost.
"Obviously, pretty scrappy." Alameda said. "They have speed and they have power. Chelsea Wilkinson had a great weekend. We have played them in the fall usually. It's a little bit of knowing what they have and then really believing and trusting what we do."
This is the Noles ninth trip in program history to the Women's College World Series.
