TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - High school girls basketball for girls teams in the Big Bend ended last week. Three teams made it to the Final Four, and two walked away with State Championships. On Friday, one of those teams celebrated with the folks that got them there.
A week removed from the Class 1A State Championship, the Madison County Cowgirls are still living it up. The ladies celebrated the first State title in girls hoops in school history on Friday with a community celebration at the Smith Mansion in Madison.
The girls signed autographs, cheered, and a local chapter of the AKA sorority presented them with a celebratory plaque. While the girls can't believe the year is over, they said they are walking away with some great memories.
"I'm going to remember the laughs the most," said senior Jameica Cobb. "The group chats, the laughs, the off guards, I'm going to remember the laughs the most."
"I'm going to remember all the jokes, all the times that we had together arguing," pitched in fellow senior Tamiera Mobley. "All the good and bad things and I'm going to remember us always encouraging each other. Most, I'm probably going to remember that State game!"
Cobb is signed with Alabama A&M, and head coach Marcus Hawkins said his eight other seniors are looking to sign scholarships as well.
