COLLEGE STATION, Tx. (WTXL) - Seminole Nation still doesn't know the status of their head coach, and he isn't answering job questions. One thing is certain, things are moving at Texas A&M, and word is, as it has been, that Fisher is their prime target.
On Thursday, A&M's Board of Regents meeting lasted over two hours in Executive Session, meaning behind closed doors. No decisions were made, but Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp confirmed numbers were presented and another meeting would be announced on Friday.
A hire would, to quote Sharp, probably be made in that meeting. Who will it be? No one knows just yet.
"We have good candidates," he said. "We've got the best facilities in the SEC. We've got the best stadium, we've got the best facilities and we intend to have the best coach before this is over with."
In Tallahassee, Fisher is trying to keep things business as usual. The head coach talked to the media at his weekly Thursday press conference, and on the agenda? Preparing for Louisiana Monroe.
With a win Saturday, Florida State becomes bowl eligible for the 36th straight season, and despite all the clutter, he hopes the focus is on that.
"Hopefully great and cheer loud and the guys will play well and we will get a bowl game," he said. "It'll be the first time in NCAA history nobody has ever gone 36 times in a row. Nobody has ever achieved that. 40-35. Forty straight winning seasons, 35 straight bowl games. That's one of our goals at the beginning of every bowl game is to get to a bowl game. That's a big deal."
Florida State's match-up with ULM is set for a noon kickoff Saturday.
