TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The Rickards Raiders went 2-8 last season, not the year they wanted, and while they're young this season, there's a lot of promise for the future. Head coach Quintin Lewis is preaching fundamentals with this team. Out of over 60 players on Varsity, he has just 12 seniors, but he notes they are a tightly knit Senior class and one he'll look to for leadership.

Lewis said he knows this year may be a bit of a rebuilding year, but if this group can stay together, they have the potential to create the building blocks for special seasons down the road.

"I think defensively we are very talented. We have a bunch of Division I caliber guys that play football, but they're young," he said. "They still have to progress, they still have to learn. Offensively we have a couple more seniors, but it's kind of a different offense, kind of a different feel. We're focusing on fundamentals and technique and paying attention to detail. The more we do that, the better we're going to be."
