High School Girls Basketball Teams Kick Off Regional Play

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - High school girls basketball teams kicked off Regional play in Florida on Thursday night, and several squads, punching their ticket to the next round, inching that much closer to a State Championship.

In Class 1A, Baker came from behind to beat West Gadsden 51-41 in Semifinal play. Lafayette handled Newberry, while Hamilton County lost to Williston.

In Class 2A, Aucilla Christian beat Eagle's View 64 to 6. Tallavanna Christian beat First Coast Christian 47-25. 

In Class 3A, the FAMU DRS Baby Lady Rattlers hosted Warner Christian, and started the hunt for their third straight State Championship on the right foot, winning 75 to 21. North Florida Christian fell to Deltona Trinity Christian 57 to 44.

In Class 5A, Quarterfinal action hit the court. East Gadsden beat Walton 62 to 49. Florida High handled West Florida 62 to 38.

In Class 6A, Godby was eliminated by Mosley, falling 75-49. Rickards beat Bay 80 to 35.

In Class 8A, Leon's season ended at the hands of Niceville, 63 to 49, while Lincoln punches their ticket to the Semifinals with a 71 to 43 win over Gulf Breeze.
