TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Rising senior Kelsey Goodman sits in fifth place after the semifinals of the women’s 3-meter diving competition at the World Championships Trials at the Morcom Aquatics Center. Through ten dives, Goodman has tallied a total of 512.70 points.
The Moultrie, Ga. native will join 10 other divers in the final round which is slated for Monday at 11:35 a.m.
Deidre Freeman (Unattached) holds the lead with a total of 579.00 just ahead of Samantha Pickens (Tuscon Diving Team), who scored 575.95 through the semifinals.
Making his World Championship Trial debut was the 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist David Boudia in the men’s 10-meter platform. Boudia (Boiler Diving Academy) holds the lead with a total of 1030.20 after the semifinals well ahead of David Bonuchi of Mizzou Diving with 880.75.
Incoming freshman, Dominic Giordano came back and dove a solid semifinal round in order to qualify for the finals of the men’s 10-meter platform, which are scheduled for 12:25 p.m. on Monday. The Wexford, Pa. native scored 288.15 after his first six dives before improving on his next six, tallying 365.95 for a total of 654.20. Giordano advances to finals in 12th place.
Saturday’s session will start at 10 a.m. with the men’s 3-meter synchronized prelims, followed by the women’s 3-meter synchronized prelims. At 1 p.m. the men’s synchronized platform prelims will start along with the women’s synchronized platform.
Tickets are sold daily at $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children or weekly passes can be purchased for $20.00.
