Godby Standout Trey Laing Signs With South Florida

Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Over a dozen student athletes signed letters of intent Wednesday across North Florida and South Georgia, and Godby defensive end standout Trey Laing was one of them.

Laing, a defensive end from Godby, made things official with South Florida Wednesday. He finished his senior season with 17.5 sacks and 25 tackles for loss.

Laing is a defensive guy, and so is South Florida coach Charlie Strong, and Laing said he's ready to suit up.

"I love the way he coaches and I love the coaching style," he said. "It was a no brainer for me. It's a nice moment for me because all my hard work and all my dedication to the game and schoolwork, it pays off. I'm really blessed for this opportunity."

Laing will not early enroll, but wanted to sign because USF is where he wanted to go.
