Florida State Volleyball Gears Up For ACC Competition

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida State volleyball team comes off a big weekend as they gear up for Conference competition. The ladies defeated a good Texas A&M squad Friday, but fell to rival, and 5th ranked, Florida on Sunday.

Despite the loss to the Gators, the Noles moved up in this week's rankings, and sit at 17th as they look to turn a new page and open ACC play with a win Wednesday night against Miami.

The Canes are riding a four match win streak in to the ACC opener, including a 3-2 win over then 20th ranked Purdue. The Seminoles haven't beaten a ranked opponent this season, but that tough schedule has only geared them up for the second half of the season.

"You want to be able to identify those weaknesses, look at your rotations, make sure you're doing the things you need to do," said head coach Chris Poole as to why Florida State schedules such tough opponents. "If you're static against weak teams or you're not playing and know what you're going to be like under adversity, sometimes then you're surprised when you play a tough opponent. Really nothing is going to surprise us this season. We know what this team has, we know what this team has to work on, and we're going to continue to do that every week."

Wednesday's match-up with the Hurricanes is slated for 7:00 at Tully Gym.
