TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida State Seminoles were on the field for the first time Wednesday as spring practice kicked off. Before day one began, head coach Jimbo Fisher said the team was excited and ready to get on the field.

As the Noles gear up for the spring, it's important to note that a lot of holes have to be filled. In the secondary, corner Jalen Ramsey and safety Lamarcus Brutus are gone, as well as kicker Roberty Aguayo.

There are seven freshman that enrolled in January, including highly touted quarterback Malik Henry. Aguayo's younger brother Ricky is also in that bunch, and there are also a lot of familiar faces, including Dalvin Cook and Derwin James.

To make a run, the Noles will have to get better, because Fisher wasn't very happy after day one.

"Today was very average to below average," he said. " I was not pleased at all. One of the worst ones since I have been here. It is what it is. I am glad we have 14 more. "

Florida State will have to find a quarterback for the spring game on April 9th, as Sean Maguire is out for the spring nursing the ankle injury he suffered during the Peach Bowl.

The race is wide open, and Fisher said it's anyone's game.

"They'll all get equal time as they see deserved," he said Wednesday of the quarterback battle. "We'll just rotate them first couple days and see how it goes and see who's doing the best and then we'll go off from that. Every spot on this team is up for grabs. There's not one spot on this team that's locked in."

The spring game is April 9th in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl.
