JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (February 10, 2020) – Tallahassee Community College score three runs in the top of the eighth to break a 2-2 tie en route to a 5-2 win over Florida State College at Jacksonville on Monday afternoon.

The Eagles (5-4) moved back above .500 with the win and completed the series sweep of the Blue Wave. Tallahassee beat FSCJ, 8-3, in its season opener on January 28.

After battling back from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1, Tallahassee took its first lead of the game in the eighth.

Consecutive walks to Andrew Fernandez and Orlando Adams started the rally then Stan King bunted his way on to load the bases with nobody out. Following a strikeout of Corey Yawn, Julian Barcelo drew the third walk of the inning to bring Fernandez home with what proved to be the game-winning run.

Two batters later, Trent Jeffcoat singled home Adams and King with a pair of insurance runs.

Leighton Alley (1-0) pitched the final three innings and came away with the win. He allowed no hits and only one walk while striking out five.

Tallahassee will host the Edward Waters College JV in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
