NICEVILLE, Fl. — Tallahassee Community College missed an opportunity to lock up an automatic berth to the NJCAA Tournament, falling to Gulf Coast State College, 71-63, in Saturday's FCSAA Men's Basketball Championship Game.

Tallahassee, now 27-6 on the season, will await Monday's NJCAA Selection Show to learn if it receives one of eight available at-large invitations to the 24-team tournament.

Tallahassee found itself in an early 16-point hole before finally settling in. The Eagles closed the first half strong and trailed by just one, 35-34, at the half.

Tallahassee took its largest lead of the night, 48-44, with 13:50 left in the game, but the Commodores used a 16-5 run to regain momentum, and the Eagles didn't have an answer.

El Ellis scored 12 points to lead Tallahassee. Tariq Silver added 11 and Jordan Guest, 10.

Silver, Kailex Stephens and Yahel Hill were named to the all-tournament team.

Monday's selection show will be available on NJCAA Championship TV, Facebook Live and Twitter.
