The No. 7 Florida State soccer team (7-0-2) defeated No. 14 Clemson (5-3-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Seminole Soccer Complex. The 3-1 win capped off the Seminoles’ ACC home opening weekend and improved their ACC record to 3-0. The Seminoles' unbeaten streak grows to 18, taking the spot as the second longest in school history.

Jody Brown was the catalyst for the offense today, picking up a career-high five points with two goals and one assist. Cristina Roque and the Seminole defense were solid the full 90 minutes, allowing only one goal from a penalty kick.

Brown put the Seminoles up early in the 6th minute, finishing off a cross from Onyi Echegini. Clara Robbins slotted a ball through the Tiger defense to Echegini on the left side of the goal box. Echegini turned on the end line and chipped it up to Brown in the box. Brown rocketed the ball into the back of the net, scoring the Seminoles’ fourth goal of the season in under 10 minutes.

Maria Alagoa doubled the lead for Florida State with another one-touch finish in the 18-yard box off a cross. This time, Brown returned the favor and assisted Alagoa in the 31st minute. Brown received the ball on the left side from Olivia Garcia in the middle. Brown crossed the ball on the ground into the stride of Alagoa, who finished into the bottom left corner.

Brown came back in the 65th minute, scoring her second goal of the game. Beata Olsson intercepted a bad pass from Clemson and found Brown in the 18-yard box. Brown placed the ball, one touch, into the lower left corner of the net.

Clemson’s Makenna Morris scored the only goal of the match for the Tigers in the 87th minute after a bad touch and foul from the Seminole defense.
