TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Some of the most vocal people in the search for a new head football coach at FSU have been the Boosters.

At one point, it was rumored that they came up with the money to buy Willie Taggart out. The Boosters have denied that rumor and the ones ABC 27 talked to say they could not be happier about Mike Norvell leading the Noles.

National Seminole Boosters Chairmain Bob Davis says he's been keeping up with President Thrasher throughout the entire search process.

One thing they agreed on: They wanted someone with fire in their eyes in the Seminoles.

Davis says he actually got to pick up Norvell and his family this morning from the airport. He says getting to know them, showed he has everything that it takes to be a Nole.

"Just listening to what their beliefs are and their values are I think they just match what FSU wants," said Davis. "He's honest and he's enthused. This is the job he really wanted. I just think was a perfect match."

Davis says Norvell has hit the ground running, too. Norvell's already talked to a recruit .and plans to talk to more in coming days.

At your ABC 27 News at 11, Davis talks the Haggins hiring rumors and how much boosters were really involved with the search.
