WOMEN
The Florida A&M women's basketball team dropped a 76-53 decision at Arkansas-Pine-Bluff Saturday afternoon. UAPB posted a 22-0 run between the first and second quarters, following a contentious start, and cruised from there.
Dylan Horton rattled in a 3-pointer with 5:23 on the clock in the opening frame, and it marked FAMU's largest lead at 10-5. The Golden Lions' scoring stretch immediately followed.
Horton led all scorers with 22 points, her 10th straight game in double-digits. Caylan Jones added a season-high 13, and all nine Rattlers who appeared in the game recorded at least one rebound. Jamaryn Blair was the most active on the board with six.
The Rattlers' road travels continue at Mississippi Valley State. The Monday contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
MEN
Florida A&M men's basketball traveled to Arkansas and had to go to overtime to pull out their second straight win, beating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 71-66.
The Rattlers found themselves down 12 early in the game but battled back to bring the game within one point at the half. The Golden Lions started the second half on a 17-8 run to take a ten-point lead with 13 minutes left in the half. A Johnny Brown layup sparked a 13-0 run for the Rattlers over the next 4:22 to take a 48-45 lead with 8:53 left. The Golden Lion responded on an 18-10 run taking a 63-58 lead with 2:20 left. Keith Littles responded with a huge corner three to make it a one-possession game, and MJ Randolph made a layup to tie it up. Randolph missed a chance to win it in regulation but made the opening bucket of overtime, and the Rattlers never looked back.
